Will the iPod nano (4th generation) charge on a homemade charger?
I built a iPod charger based on an instructable online. It’s a simple 9v battery hooked to a 5v regulator going to a female USB port. I double checked my wiring and checked the output and it is 5v like it should be. I read online that without some extra fancy things, that I wouldn’t even go into, an iPhone or iPod touch won’t charge. When I plug my iPod 4th generation into the device the backlight turns on, but it doesn’t show it is charging. Is this just another Apple attempt to force us to buy their own products or did I do something wrong?

an Apple CSR told me that iPods self adjust to the voltage they are connected to do it’s you, YDI (you deserved it) for being cheap with DIY
you can afford an iPhone, iTouch, and a nano
if you wanna be cheap then just buy like a $10 one at WalMart
